Up to 4 customers can create family carts, Instacart+ membership, and loyalty pricing for select retailers. Here’s how it works—

  • Build a cart and track order progress together. Visit our Family carts article for more information.

  • As long as 1 member on the family account has an Instacart+ membership, everyone gets the order savings benefits. These benefits include, but aren’t limited to, $0 delivery fees on eligible orders of $10 or more.

  • All members can share retailer loyalty pricing and exclusive coupons when 1  member links their loyalty card(s). See this article for instructions on adding loyalty cards to your account.

Create family account

If you're new to Instacart, you can create a family account during signup. Enter your friend or family member’s contact information on the Invite the family along screen and select Invite.

 

If you already have an Instacart account—

 

  1. Tap the Account icon (app) or click the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner (web).

  2. Select Start a family account.

Add member to your family account

 

The family account owner can add up to 3 members at a time.

  1. Tap the Account icon (app) or click the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner (web).

  2. Select Add member (app) or Manage family account (web).

  3. Enter the additional member’s contact information and select Send invite.

Remove member from your family account

 

The owner can remove members, or members can remove themselves.

  1. Tap the Account icon (app) or click the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner (web).

  2. Look under the Family section (app) or select Manage family account (web).

  3. Select the member's name.

  4. Select Remove member.

Deactivate/delete your family account

 

Only the owner can delete their family account. If you do, you won’t deactivate your Instacart account or cancel your Instacart+ membership. However, everyone loses any active family carts. The additional members sharing the account also lose Instacart+ benefits.

 

To deactivate/delete your family account—

  1. Tap the Account icon (app) or click the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner (web).

  2. Look under the Family section (app) or select Manage family account (web).

  3. Select your name.

  4. Select Delete family account (app) or Deactivate family account (web).
