Italian whole grain. The original ancient grain. From the fields of Tuscany. Heart healthy. Authentic Italian. Taste the difference. Something better starts here. Taste the difference of rice grown in its natural environment. Native soils and climates affect its taste, scent and texture. Because we appreciate these differences, Village Harvest travels the world to bring the most authentic, premium rice to your table. First cultivated in 9,000 B.C., Farro was the standard ration of the Roman legions. With twice the protein and fiber as modern wheat, it was clearly a wise choice. In addition to being nutritious, its nutty flavor and pleasing texture make it a delicious staple in many authentic Italian kitchens. Used in soups, salads, stews and often cooked just like risotto, Village Harvest Farro Perlato is certain to satisfy every healthy appetite at your table. FDA says that diets rich in whole grain foods and other plant foods and low in total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol may help reduce the risk of heart disease and other cancers.
