Brown rice takes longer to cook - but it's worth it! Yields 4-6 serving from 1 cup brown rice. If you have any questions or comments please call 1-800-446-2668 weekdays 8AM - 5PM Central Time. Grown and packed in the USA.
Ingredients
Long Grain Brown Rice.
Directions
Stove Top Cooking Instructions: Wash 1 cup brown rice by rinsing in cool water until all chaff, etc. is removed. In a large pot with tight-fitting lid, bring 3 cups of water, 1 tsp. salt and 1 tbsp. butter or margarine to a boil. Add brown rice, cover and let boil again. Reduce heat and simmer 45-50 minutes without stirring. All water should be gone so remove from heat - but do not stir. Let rice sit covered at least 15 minutes before eating. Rice can be fluffed with a fork from time to time after completely cooked. Oven Cooking Instructions: 2-1/4 cups water. 1 cup brown rice. 1 tsp. salt. 1 tbsp. butter or another seasonings may be added to taste. If you wish to cook in an oven, do so in a buttered, covered pot using above ingredients and cooking at 350 degrees F for 1-1/4 hours or 75 minutes. Can be used for breakfast cereal, pilaf, in salads, desserts or anywhere you would use white rice. Microwave Cooking Instructions: Combine 1 cup rice, 2-1/2 cups water, 1 tsp. salt and 1 tbsp. butter or margarine in deep 2- to 3-quart microproof baking dish. Cover and cook on high (maximum power) for 5 minutes. Reduce to medium (50% power) and cook 30 minutes. Fluff with fork and serve. We suggest rinsing before preparing as this will not destroy any natural vitamins which are not a part of brown rice itself. We recommend storing in an airtight container in a cool, dry place or refrigerator or freezer - keeps indefinitely this way.
