Premium hand crafted. Enclosed blessing card. the Jacob Rosenthal Judaica collection Traditional hand decorated. a Wonderful Way to Welcome Shabbat Into Your Home! Shabbat (or Shabbos), the Jewish day of rest, is one of the best known of all Jewish observances. It incorporates the most cherished values of Jewish tradition: The warmth and closeness of family life along with the experience of spiritual joy. Shabbat begins at sunset on Friday night and ends on Saturday night at one hour past sunset. Shabbat candles are lit eighteen minutes before sunset to avoid lighting candles once Shabbat has begun. Jews have been lighting candles to welcome Shabbat since the second century B.C.E. The flames are seen as a symbol of life as they give light, G-d’s first creation. Traditionally, it is the mother who lights and blesses Shabbat candles. Most people light two candles, although some light one candle for each family member. After lighting the candles, some circle the flames three times with their hands, symbolically bringing Shabbat closer. They then cover their eyes and recite the blessing (see included card). Ideal for all Jewish holidays! Decorative Shabbat prayer included! Laminated. Suitable for framing. Hand-dipped and hand-decorated. Burns clean and bright for approx. 2.5 hours. Sized to fit most candlesticks.
Directions
Trim wicks to 1/4 inch; place candles upright in candle holder; be sure candles are secure before lighting; always use a non-flammable candle holder on a non-flammable surface; placing lit candles near a draft may cause dripping.
Warnings
Caution! Never leave a burning candle unattended!, Warning: Burn candle within sight. Keep away from things that catch fire. Keep away from children and pets.
