Bodega Numanthia is renowned as the caretaker of Spains heritage Tinta de Toro vines which are some of the worlds oldest, ranging in age from 30 -200 years old. Sculpted by time, these ungrafted pre-phylloxera vineyards have miraculously survived decades of climatic extremes, enduring harsh winters and blistering summers. It has shaped vines of remarkable resilience which in turn yield wines of remarkable depth and complexity.
Diversity of terroir is the soul of Numanthia and this wine is our signature expression. For this wine we handpick fruit from over 100 different parcels to craft a blend that showcases the best of Toros eight different terroir types. It is a celebration of our terroirs and values inherited from the generations before us.
Numanthia is a result of the selection and richness of exceptional vines, dating back to no less than 70 years on average. They are ungrafted and nonirrigated. Year after year, their low yields deliver grapes of extreme concentration with intense fruit and structure.
To craft this wine, each parcel is microvinified and appraised separately before being carefully blended by the winemaking team. The result is a wine with a unique balance of elegance and power with complex aromas and deep, round tannins, fine structure, and precision. This wine will age with grace for at least 20 years.
