Like the city of New Orleans, the French Market has a rich history. It has always been the center of commerce and sociability for the city's residents attracting entrepreneurs, artists and more recently jazz musicians playing lively music as locals and visitors shop. The French Market flourishes to this day because of the people and products found there—products such as French Market Pure Chicory.; The history of drinking pure chicory is believed to have gained popularity in New Orleans when Union naval blockades created a coffee shortage in the city. A known flavor from France, city residents roasted, ground and brewed chicory root as a replacement for coffee. The strong, slightly nutty taste of chicory remained popular even after the coffee shortage was over. Today, enhancing coffee with chicory—or serving it in its pure form—is a unique New Orleans tradition.

Directions
Reconstitute: 1. Always use fresh cold water and a clean coffee maker.
2. Use 1 level tablespoon of French Market Pure Chicory per 6 fluid ounces of water. Adjust the amount of chicory to your preferred strength.
1. Add warm milk and sugar to taste.
2. To create New Orleans style coffee with chicory, add 1 part chicory to 2 parts ground coffee.

- Find Best Match: By default, your shopper will use their best judgement to pick a replacement for your item.
- Pick Specific Replacement: You can pick a specific alternative for the shopper to purchase if your first choice is out-of-stock.
- Don't Replace: For items you'd rather not replace, choose "Don't replace" to get a refund if the item is out of stock.
