Blackberry, ripe cherries, dried fig and tea aromas with notes of tasty oak on the nose lead to vanilla, cherrywood smoke, chocolate and black raspberry flavors on the palate. This dry red wine is full-bodied and fleshy with balanced acidity and fine-grained cocoa powder tannins on the finish. This award-winning California Red Wine earned 90 Points from Wine Enthusiast in 2016, 92 points from James Suckling in 2017 and 91 Points from James Suckling in 2018. Folie a Deux red wine Merlot is the perfect complement to most meat dishes, such as Mediterranean lamb burgers or slow cooked roast beef. Folie a Deux wines are crafted to exude varietal character, while expressing the nuances of Sonoma County's iconic sub-appellations. Hand-picked grapes come from a selection of prime vineyards in the cooler parts of Alexander Valley. Nestled in northern Sonoma County, Alexander Valley AVA stretches 22 miles from Healdsburg to Cloverdale, following the meandering course of the Russian River. Following a 10 to 14 day maceration period, the lots are aged for 15 months in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak barrels (17% new), showcasing the bright, varietally expressive palate of this Merlot wine. The result is a collection of wines that could only be made from Sonoma terroir. This bottled wine is 14% alcohol by volume.
