Established 1986. Fat free. Authentic Portland Sourdough products. See back panel for baking instructions. City Sour, Our Story: Our story begins in January of 1985 in Portland, Oregon. We believed there was a need for quality French breads in the marketplace and started producing European styled French breads in June of that year. San Francisco Style Sourdough was what we wanted most. After trying unsuccessfully for over a year using a variety of methods recommended to us, we decided that the old way was the best way! Obtaining a small piece of sourdough starter was the beginning. The origin of this magnificent starter dates back over 100 years and it came from the San Francisco Bay area. City Sour became a reality in July of 1986! We learned how to produce sourdough breads the way it was done in the last century. There are only a handful of bakers that still do it this way. Quality means more than speed! For this reason, it takes at least 18 hours to make a loaf of city sour. The fermentation of quality sourdough is like that of a fine wine - the slower (longer), the better! City Sour will not change, and our commitment to its authenticity will always give you the finest sourdough you can buy! Thanks from the entire Portland French Family. Please recycle.
