For best results, plant new seed in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55 degrees F and 70 degrees F, or air temperature between 60 degrees F and 80 degrees F. 1. Prep: New Lawn: Rake area to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2 inches deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact. Overseeding: Mow lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Rake to remove debris, dead grass, and loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact. 2. Apply: New Lawn; Overseeding: Use a Scotts Spreader to apply the seed at the recommended spreader setting. New Lawn Coverage = 745 sq ft. Overseeding Coverage = 2240 sq ft. 3. Rake: New Lawn; Overseeding: Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface. Scotts Hand-Held Spreader: New Lawn: 5 go overlawn 3x; Overseeding: 5. Scotts Broadcast/Rotary Spreader: New Lawn: 10-1/2; Overseeding: 5. Scotts Drop Spreader: New Lawn: 17-1/2 go overlawn 4x; Overseeding: 14-1/4 go over lawn 2x. Instacart pickup cost:
- There may be a "pickup fee" (equivalent to a delivery fee for pickup orders) on your pick up order that is typically $1.99 for non-Instacart+ members. Instacart+ membership waives this like it would a delivery fee.
- Pick up orders have no service fees, regardless of non-Instacart+ or Instacart+ membership.

You can set item and delivery instructions in advance, as well as chat directly with your shopper while they shop and deliver your items. You can tell the shopper to:
- Find Best Match: By default, your shopper will use their best judgement to pick a replacement for your item.
- Pick Specific Replacement: You can pick a specific alternative for the shopper to purchase if your first choice is out-of-stock.
- Don't Replace: For items you'd rather not replace, choose "Don't replace" to get a refund if the item is out of stock.
