All 7 acres of this estate-grown old-vine Sangiovese Grosso are farmed organically and grapes are hand-harvested in small 10KG boxes and brought to the winery by hand within minutes of harvest. The micro-blocks are fermented separately in stainless steel and open-top oak fermenters. Finished wine is aged for 30 months in small 500L barrels and large oval oak barrels of varying size before the wine is lightly filtered before bottling. A concentrated and brilliant Brunello, this wine showcases notes of withered wild plum and dehydrated cherry in the nose with nuances of fresh berries, juniper underwood, dried flowers and white musk found on the palate. At once, unique, enticing and enjoyable. Extremely limited production, as only 6,000 bottles are imported into the in U.S. The 2018 vintage received 94 points from James Suckling and Wine Spectator; and 95 points from Wine Enthusiast. One 750mL wine bottle of Cotarella Le Machioche Brunello Red Wine, 14% alcohol by volume.
