RECIPE: Greek Meatballs with Tzatziki Sauce (Keftedes)
Welcome the inviting flavors of the Mediterranean into your home with this popular Greek appetizer- keftedes. Starring the robust, herby flavor of McCormick® Greek Seasoning, these Greek meatballs can be enjoyed as a light bite or served with Tzatziki, sliced fresh vegetables, and toasted pita for a complete meal.

Cook Time: 20 minutes
For the Tzatziki, grate 1 medium seedless cucumber, squeezing to drain any excess liquid (should be about 1 cup). Mix cucumber, 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, 4 teaspoons McCormick® Greek Seasoning, 1 tablespoon each olive oil and lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon salt in medium bowl. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. For the Keftedes, line shallow baking pan with foil and spray with no-stick cooking spray. Set aside. Mix 1 pound ground beef, 1/2 pound ground pork or lamb, 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons Greek Seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 large egg in large bowl just until well blended. Form into 1-inch meatballs. Arrange meatballs on prepared pan. Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F). Serve with Tzatziki, sliced fresh vegetables and toasted pita, if desired. Makes 8 servings.

Directions
1. For the Tzatziki, squeeze grated cucumber to drain any excess liquid. Mix cucumber and remaining ingredients in medium bowl. Cover. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
2. For the Keftedes, preheat oven to 350degF. Line shallow baking pan with foil and spray with no-stick cooking spray. Set aside. Place all ingredients in large bowl. Mix just until well blended. Form into 1-inch meatballs. Arrange meatballs on prepared pan.
3. Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown, and cooked through (internal temperature of 165degF). Serve with Tzatziki, sliced fresh vegetables and toasted pita, if desired.
