All natural. Gluten free. Vegetarian. Ready to serve in just 10 minutes. Perfect every time. Our passion for the vibrant flavors of Nuevo Latino cuisine has taken us on travels high and low - from the lush mountains and forests of Central and South America to the sunny Caribbean - learning about and tasting authentic regional dishes at every stop. We came back from this culinary adventure with a mission: to bring you all-natural versions of the best of these dishes. All Tambobamba dishes are fast and easy to prepare so you can enjoy them any day of the week. Cuban Black Beans and Rice: The name of this classic Cuban dish translates to Moors and Christians, and alludes to the wars between the Moors and the Spaniards. It's an everyday dish in Cuba, and its mild, piquant flavor is an everyday reminder of the Spanish influence on that country. We've seasoned our version simply, adding onions, green pepper, and select spices. Excellent with spicy sausage, grilled or roasted beef, fish, tofu, or poultry. It is also a superb burrito filler. The Story of the Tambo: In ancient South America, the Incans used highly-trained runners called chasquis to deliver messages and goods from territory to territory, via the Inca trail - a 14,000 mile-long system of paths that connected the many regions of Inca. On longer missions, these chasquis could run over a hundred miles in one day. To provide them food and shelter, over 2,000 small inns, or tambos, were built along the Inca trail. The chasquis also often worked in relay - one chasqui would run to the next tambo and hand his message to the waiting chasqui there, repeating this pattern until the message reached its destination. Many Incan ruins are still visible from the Inca Trail today. No preservatives. No artificial ingredients. No MSG.
