This exemplary vineyard, located just below the village of Treiso, has been considered one of the best vineyards located within the DOCG Barbaresco for more than a century. The Ceretto family has made wine from this site for over two decades, repeatedly producing wines with an exciting drinkability. Located at 400 meters elevation the Ceretto family farms their 4.8 hectares of this cru biodynamically, which winemaker Alessandro Ceretto feels provides "continuously more expressive wines year-after-year that are pleasing on the palate and remarkably dynamic." Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tank, Ceretto’s Barbaresco alcoholic fermentation is followed by a 20-25 day maceration and malolactic fermentation is performed in 300L oak barrels. Following the completion of ML, the finished wine is aged for two years in large 20-50HL oak casks and an additional year in bottle before release. Bernadot can certainly be appreciated when consumed young, this wine will also age well as its sweet tannins often morph into heady aromas of savory spice with age.
