Enriched Bleached Wheat Flour (Contains Bleached Wheat Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin and Folic Acid), Leavening (Contains Sodium Aluminum Phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Monocalcium Phosphate), Salt, Calcium Sulfate.


Directions

Basic Biscuit Recipe: 2 cups of Southern Biscult Self-Rising Flour. 1/4 cup vegetable shortening. 2/3 to 3/4 cup cold whole milk. 2 Tablespoons of melted butter or margarine (optional). 1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. 2. Measure 2 cups of Southern Biscult Self-Rising Flour into a mixing bowl. 3. Add 1/4 cup of vegetable shortening to the bowl. 4. Cut the shortening into the flour. 5. While slowly adding the milk, stir with a large spoon until the flour shortening mixture is thoroughly moistened. Do not over mix. For a drier dough, use less milk, for a wetter dough use more. 6. Turn the dough out onto a smooth floured surface. Using as few strokes as possible with a floured rolling pin, roll the dough out to a uniform thickness of 1/2 inch. 7. Cut the biscuits using a floured cutter (a 2 inch biscuit cutter Is recommended) and trans- fer to a shallow baking pan. Arrange the biscuits on the pan so that each biscuit is slightly touching the one next to it. 8. Place the pan in the pre-heated oven, and bake at 450 degrees F for 10 to 14 minutes, or until done. 9. Remove the biscults from the oven, and brush the top of each biscult with melted butter or margarine.
