Directions
Stovetop recipe:
In a 2 quart saucepan, heat 1 1/2 cups hot water, 1/2 cup milk* and 2 tablespoons margarine or butter to boiling. *To avoid boil-over: delay adding milk and add milk with the seasoned potatoes (next step). Remove from heat and stir in one (1) pouch of seasoned potatoes until moistened. Let stand about 1 minute
Until liquid is absorbed.
Whip: with fork until smooth (potatoes will become stiffer as they stand). If creamier potatoes are desired, stir in 1 tablespoon of milk at a time to desired creaminess.
Microwave recipe:
In a microwave-safe bowl, stir 1 2/3 cups hot water, 1/2 cup milk and 2 tablespoons margarine or butter and one (1) pouch of seasoned potatoes until moistened. Cover with plastic wrap, venting one side. Microwave on high 2 to 6 minutes or until hot.
Whip: with fork until smooth (potatoes will become stiffer as they stand). If creamier potatoes are desired, stir in 1 tablespoon of milk at a time to desired creaminess.
Caution: bowl will be hot. Because microwaves cook differently, times are approximate.
Helpful hints.
For thicker potatoes, stir in additional flakes slowly to desired consistency.
For creamier potatoes, gradually add additional milk.
Microwave cooking is not recommended for more than 4 servings.
Adjust all microwave cooking times to your individual oven.
Do not use an electric mixer.
