Bootleggers Series: 1920 inmate; Bugs Moran; criminal bureau. I hope when my time comes, that I die decently - I don't want to be murdered - in some Chicago alley. - George Bugs Moran. Notes: This is not your typical cabernet. In true Big House fashion, we rejected the idea that we had to make a traditional and expected Oaky Cab. Instead, we did what we do best - create a mouthwatering wine that is like no other. Its notes of rich, black currants and hints of mocha lead into dark berries and plums, making this a wine that you will always be able to pick out from a lineup. Like Bugs Moran and his North Side Gang, our Cabernet doesn't mess around. Big House wines are inspired by the bootleggers who helped bring prohibition to an end and paid their dues in the Big House. Established in 1990 in Monterey County California, Big House Wine Co. receives its namesake due to the close proximity to the Soledad Correctional Facility, aka The Big House. bighousewines.com. 3L premium wine cask equal to four 750 ml bottles. Name: George Moran. Nickname: Bugs. DOB: 08-21-1893. DOD: 02-25-1957. Bugs Moran was the last leader of the Chicago based North Side Gang, which was best known for running alcohol rackets during prohibition. He became legendary in part due to the bitter rivalry against Al Capone's South Side Gang, who were also trying to gain control over Chicago's alcohol bootlegging racket. The rivalry came to a bloody head on February 14, 1929, when 7 of Moran's gang were slaughtered by South Side members dressed up as police officers. Moran left Chicago several years after prohibition ended, but continued his criminal career, committing robbery and fraud. Alc. by vol. 13.5%. Vinted and bottled by Big House Wine Co., Ripon, California.
