About

Directions

Adding Smoky Flavor: 1. Soak 6-8 mesquite chunks in water for 2 hours. You can also soak in apple juice or other liquids to create different flavors. When using a gas grill, wrap chunks in aluminum foil and puncture several times before placing next to burner. 2. For a regular charcoal grill or smoker grill, prepare and light GreenWise Natural Wood Charcoal. 3. When charcoal is ready and covered with white ash, spread mesquite chunks evenly over the fire. 4. To capture the smoky flavor, place foods on grate and begin cooking once the wood chunks begin to smoke. Keep the lid closed to increase the flavor. 5. Use a meat thermometer to check doneness, as cooking times may vary. 6. Add more mesquite chunks to increase the rich, smoky flavor. Cooking Without Charcoal: 1. Build your fire using mesquite chunks the same way you would regular charcoal. Do not soak chunks in water. 2. Arrange mesquite chuncks into a pyramid-shaped pile. 3. Soak mesquite chunks with lighter fluid and wait one minute. 4. With grill vents open and the top open or removed, light the pile and let burn 15-20 minutes until all chunks are burning. 5. Spread as directed, then replace grill top and close vents to smother the flame. Wait one minute. 6. Remove grill top and place food on cooking grate. 7. Keep grill closed while cooking to increase flavor. 8. Use a meat thermometer to check doneness, as cooking times may vary. Be mindful not to overcook. Mesquite chunks burn hotter than charcoal.

For best results, store this bag in a dry place.

Warnings

Grilling Safely: Never grill indoors. Make sure grill is away from items that could accidentally ignite. Never leave grill unattended. Keep children and pets away from hot grill. Always use fire-retardant mitts and aprons to protect against burns. Follow grill manufacturer's instructions for use and safety. Do not pour lighter fluid on burning wood or charcoal. Never use gasoline to light fire.
