You can use dry or wet or raw or runny food on some or all surfaces of the Slomo. Dry or soaked kibble works well with the nubs and can also be placed in the pockets. Wet or raw food can be spread on the nubs or pressed into the pockets. Runny foods, gels and liquid foods and treats work best in the pockets, and thicker runny foods can be spread on the nubs. You can cook foods on the Slomo in a microwave, and you can also freeze foods and treats for a longer reward challenge. Please read training and introduction notes on inside of label. It is essential to supervise and train your dog when introducing any new food related item. If you have a puppy or a chewer, please use with a LickiMat Keeper to protect the Slomo. Simply place the Slomo into the Keeper before or after applying food or treat. Food and treat suggestions: Yogurt and spreadable treats work best on the nubs. Mince, bone broth and doggie ice cream work best in the pockets. Raw food works well on both surfaces. Minced meat can be pressed into the pockets and microwaved to produce mini hamburgers in their own juice. Experiment with your own tasty combos! Please make sure that any food used has no xylitol, as it is harmful to pets. Ask your vet about food and treat safety. How to train your dog to use LickiMat Slomo correctly: 1. Near the center, spread a small amount of food and/or treat and/or kibble in a few square pockets and around the raised nubs. Use the back of a spoon or spatula for wet or raw food or spreadable treats. 2. Sit on the ground with your dog and place the loaded LickiMat on the floor in front of them. Body language matters! A lot of times dogs do not interact with enrichment due to our body language, like looming. 3. If your dog attempts to chew, redirect with a toy or treat. Remove LickiMat. Try again in 5-10 mins or at a later date. Repeat the trade every time you want to remove LickiMat. 4. As your dog learns to lick (instead of chew) you can widen the circle. Steer away from the edges of the LickiMat for the first week or two to train your dog not to chew the edges. Important Tips! Please supervise and train your dog when introducing the LickiMat Slomo. Investing the time will give you and your dog better outcomes in the long term. Microwave safe for cooking or warming up food. This LickiMat Slomo is dishwasher safe. Wash after every use.
