Ear Care Delivery or Pickup

Wax is a natural substance that all ears produce. Wax keeps bacteria and fungus from entering your system. It is acidic in nature and oily, making a barrier that is waterproof in the ear canal. It is not meant to be cleaned out regularly, as your body has its own system in place for getting rid of any buildup. This system takes the wax out of the canal and moves it almost like a conveyor belt. A person can have 90% of their canal blocked by the wax buildup, and they will still be able to hear just fine. 

Wax can become excessive, though. When it does, a doctor can remove the abundance of wax through a unique process called lavage, which is flushing warm water through your ear canals, washing it all away. 

Many pharmacies and stores carry products for wax removal. Some are safe for at-home use, while others are not. Cotton swabs are meant to be used on the outside of the ear and are never to enter the ear canal. 

Home earwax removal systems use warm water to liquefy the ear's buildup and wash it out. These irrigation systems or syringes can safely remove the excess wax without a trip to the doctor and without causing any extra harm to your ears. 

Drops are also beneficial in reducing the buildup of earwax. You can put many brands such as Debrox or Murine into the ear canal to soften the wax. Softening the wax makes it so it can come out more efficiently on its own. Swimmers' ear drops are also helpful if you get water trapped inside your ear canal. A few drops into your ear will help collect the water and pull it back out, relieving any pressure that may be sitting against your eardrum. 

Flexible cleaners are spiral tools and picks. These thin plastic tools come with cones or scoops on the end to assist with the removal of earwax. These tools can also help with ear exfoliation.
