Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is the ingredient most commonly used to make suds, and it can easily irritate delicate skin. 

Liquid soaps are gentler than bar soaps and are nearly always preferred for babies. You want to see words such as hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and nontoxic on your baby soap. Avoid products that have parabens, sulfates, Propylene Glycol, and Triclosan on the label.
