Baby Bedding Delivery or Pickup

You may see a range of bedding items available for children, but only a few pieces are essential. Every crib should have a waterproof cover to protect the mattress from leaks. You might consider a waterproof, allergen-proof cover to avoid bedbugs, dust mites, and other irritants as well.

You also need a fitted crib sheet to go on top. These items are all an infant requires. You can swaddle the baby in a lightweight blanket for added warmth, but you won't use a comforter or other blankets until the child is older.

Consider stocking up on more than one sheet and mattress protector so that you can easily swap them out when soiled. You don't want to have to wait for the laundry to finish to put your baby back to bed in the middle of the night. Purchase enough extras to ensure that at least one of each item is always clean.

Always wash clothing, blankets, and bedding for your baby in a gentle detergent. A baby's skin is far more sensitive than that of an older child. Choose a color-free, fragrance-free product. Many detergents are specially formulated for babies. Always wash new items before placing them in the crib to remove any chemicals, residues, or irritants that may be on the item from the packaging or store.

Use a firm mattress for your infant. Some crib mattresses have two sides, with a firmer option for the infant and a slightly softer side when the child becomes a toddler. For an infant, you should only use a fitted bottom sheet. Make sure the sheet lays flat and snug. You can use corner clips to help the sheet stay in place if needed. The crib sheet should never be loose, as a loose sheet can increase the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in infants younger than 12 months.

With the right baby bedding, you can sleep easy as well, knowing that your child has all the essentials for a night of safe and snug sleep.
