Cachaca has crisp, fruity flavors. The sugarcane growing region, the wood used in the aging barrel, and the length of aging affect the color and flavors of Cachaca. Young, un-aged Cachaca is usually clear. Cachaca deepens to a gold or amber color after barrel aging.
Types of Cachaca
Branca (white) Cachaca is typically un-aged or stored in stainless steel tanks. Branca may also refer to Cachaca aged in wood that does not affect its color, such as peanut, Jequitiba, and Freijo These. Amarala Cachacas may also be labeled as gold or aged. Amarela Cachacas are popular with those who enjoy whiskey or bourbon.
